History<\/h2>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text]Zagori covers an area of more than 1,000 square kilometers. At an altitude ranging from 500-2500 meters. It is a region gifted with\u00a0rare natural beauty<\/strong>. The historical circumstances formed a special cultural environment, where the multiplicity of small communities does not negate the unity of the whole. This emerges as a monument of cultural heritage. It consists of 46 villages, called\u00a0Zagorohoria,<\/strong>\u00a0which are scattered in the Mountains of Pindos, Tymfi and Mitsikeli.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1\/2″][vc_single_image image=”565″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1\/2″][vc_single_image image=”569″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text]They are located north of the city of Ioannina. Zagori is divided\u00a0into three geographical sections:<\/strong>\u00a0West, East and Central Zagori. It is of great geological importance and for this reason it is part of the Vikos-Aoos National Park. Due to the location of the region, the climate and the particular topography, it is characterized as Vikos-Aoos Geopark and is included in the\u00a0European Geoparks Network of UNESCO<\/strong>\u00a0and belongs to Natura 2000 network of protected areas.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1\/2″][vc_single_image image=”566″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1\/2″][vc_single_image image=”568″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text]The stone arched bridges, the stone alleys lead to\u00a0mesohori<\/strong>\u00a0(halfway the village), where the square of each village is, where under the shade of plane trees almost all of the events take place.
